This product could be made much better by some kind of manual, either in the box or online! First, I want to say that the people at Biker's Choice were great. I ordered these on a Tuesday night before a long, Saturday ride. I received them on Thursday. I also want to say that this product was worth the cost. It's nice looking chrome but doesn't dominate the look of my bike.

THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOU BEING A KNUCKLEHEAD LIKE ME. HOWEVER, THIS IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME.

If you're even a little bit comfortable with a wrench and your bike then the whole job should take about 30-60 minutes and is not that difficult. It took my wife and me 5 hours because there were no instructions! She must love me because I was a real bear on this one. I finally read some hints online, buried in a forum, from some guy in Australia. He said this job was a PITA and he had to remove both engine mount plates. I removed the four bolts from the engine mount plates and BINGO, the bar slips in with no problem. Be careful if you don't know what you're doing. Trying to put this bar in with only one engine mount plate removed was too difficult for us to figure out. Also, be aware of your oil sensor and any other cables as you carefully insert the bar.

One arm of the bar is longer than the other. This will come out the right side of your bike (the air cleaner side). The bar will sit in the frame, towards the bottom and forward a bit (just below the oil filter). The brackets on the bar will point towards the back. The holes on the bracket of the bar line up with the mount plates very well once it's placed right. They attach to said engine mount plates. You use the two short, existing mount bolts to attach the bar to the plate and frame of the bike. These are your top holes. You use the two fatter bolts provided in the kit to attach the bar to the plates on the bottom holes of the bar. If the holes on the bar do not line up, flip the bar over because it's upside down. Again, the longer arm will clue you in. Tighten down all six bolts (four from the plates and two new ones in the kit) and you are ready to attach the pegs.

The pegs are really straight forward. Make sure the holes in the peg and the holes in the bar line up. Slide in a bolt and make sure the peg flips UP when folded. If it flips down, put it on the other side of the bar because you put the wrong peg on. Tighten this down with the thinner bolts provided in the kit. Don't tighten all the way down. You want it just tight enough that it the pegs stay up when you want them up but you can push them down with your feet when you want them.

TWO OTHER MINOR COMPLAINTS - 1) The right side of the bar, even though it's longer, seems a bit short even after the highway peg is on. My knee rubs up against the air filter from time to time. 2) The highway bar does not seem to accept any other types of pegs other than the ones provided which is too bad. I would love to put on mini floorboard, stirrups, or something that absorbs vibration better although the provided pegs are OK.

Overall, this is an OK product and good for the price.
