Thermo Tec COOL-IT Insulating Mat Use the Cool-It Mat to battle excessive heat and noise that penetrate the driver compartment through the firewalls and floorboards. It is also perfect in doors, under hoods, and above transmission housings. The Cool-It Mat is composed of resin-bonded silica blanketing insulation sandwiched between a mylar facing on one side and a foil facing on the other. The highly-reflective mylar reflects heat away from surfaces, while the foil side is orientated away from the heat source to conduct any penetrating heat across its surface thus providing the ultimate in heat protection. The silica blanketing is a duel-density composite and is the main sound insulator. It is easy to trim and can be applied with the push-in fasteners provided or Thermo Tec HD Spray Adhesive

Thermo-Tec COOL - IT MAT 48" X 48" Review

I am in the process of putting my old Jaguar '66 XKE Coupe back on the road after 20 years in storage. These cars were famous for being designed for a cool British climate rather than much warmer USA driving. The interior could pass as a furnace during summertime use.

I have added Cool-it insulation under my carpets and around the transmission tunnel and this has helped tremendously in reducing cabin temps. There are other products on the market that are much more expensive and probably work well too. But for the money, I am very pleased with the Cool-it Mat. Adding this product has made a dramatic difference in driving comfort.

Note: adding reflective metal tape around the exposed edging after trimming is helpful. Metal tape also works well to sucure various Cool-it panels together, further sealing the cabin.

Two 48" x 48" mats seems to be all that I'll need to complete the job. About the best money I've spent restoring my old Jag.
