Show Chrome Front Fender Rails 62-104A Review

Ok, so I was looking forward to installing this product on my bike. It went relatively smoothly but it took closer to 30-40 minutes to install. The instructions are sparse and do not cover the entire installation well. First off, after removing the 4 fender mounting bolts, set these aside as they will not be reused. To remove the 2 bolts closest to the rider, you will likely need to remove the reflectors mounted next to the fender bolt. The product comes with longer bolts that will replace the existing OEM bolts. Next, i recommend removing the front fender completely and getting to understand how the rail mounts to the fender. The rail mounts go on the inside of the fender, which is pretty apparent. However, with at least the set I received, the holes that were pre-drilled into the chrome rail frame DID NOT flush up well with the Yamaha fender.

I went ahead and pre-aligned the rail frame and the front fender as best I could then went ahead and loosely mounted the fender back to the bike frame. Make sure you slowly screw in the bolts on all 4 sides and have fun forcing all the bolts through the pre-drilled rail mount. I was barely able to accomplish this with enough threading sticking out on the inside of the fender to place the nut onto the end of each bolt. If the bolt had been literally a hair shorter, it would not have threaded. I tightened all 4 nuts down which bent/molded the rail frame to the inside of the fender. Although the bolts are "nyloc" nuts, i don't think it would hurt to place a little loc-tite to the nut threads as well to be safe.

All in all, the product's chrome is of good quality and the mounting hardware is adequate. No modifications were needed to mount the hardware so I cannot complain. I would definitely recommend this product to other Yamaha Road Star riders.
