Bought this for my 88 Mercury Grand Marquis with the 302 "5.0 EFI" dual to SINGLE pipe, using a Y-pipe and other exhaust parts listed further below, to replace the original one that was just about rotted off, twas 22yrs old at the time i replaced it. Well the "OEM" replacement i found that would've been fine was a bit more expensive at the local parts store, so I decided to find a better performing muffler and of course this one at the parts store was a bit more...so I tried online, Amazon being my 1st stop and my LAST for many parts! the local shop that quoted me to replace the exhaust from the Cat's to the tailpipe was over $300 and with this muffler....well with all the parts I needed for my application, knowing beforehand the part #s from auto sites, Amazon having in stock and becoming a Prime member for faster shipping, it cost $157 and arrived in less than two days....PERFECT because I had a day off!

I could've welded some of the parts, but if my kids keep the car or I need to fix a part I won't have much trouble. Took about 6hrs, 2 to wrap the exhaust with ceramic fiber to promote heat retention and faster exhaust release because in NJ emissions are TOUGH so CAT gutting wasn't an option and there are 4 of them, along with other parts I had to pick up in the auto stores, cat gaskets, grade 5 bolts for the cat flanges and a universal exhaust hanger for the tailpipe so all in all i wrapped up maybe $175 AND I did it without any markups for parts, made it perform better, plus I learned a bit more about my car.
