Taylor 79605 Spark Plug Wire Set Review

It was time to replace the stock plugs and wires on my 02 GMC Sierra 4.8L and I was looking for replacements diligently. With my mileage looming around 97k, I researched many reviews and truck forum conversations before settling on this brand, as it had zero complaints. Installed now for about a month, and I'm pleased to report no complaints. One thing I noticed with using this aftermarket harness and different stock plugs is that my car had to 'relearn' or 'reprogram' itself to run as it did prior to the change. Changes I noticed were, slower accelerations and upshifts, and gas mileage (reporting a dismal 16.5mpg compared to previous 18mpg) Although I'm not certain if the wires, the plugs or both are to blame for this, whatever it was, it seems to have straightened out as mileage is back to 18 mpg.

I spoke with a sales rep at Taylor Mfg. and was told these wires should last the life of the car, which is quite a claim considering what materials this product is made from. The O.E.M Delco plugs use a separate ‘heat217; shield that the plugs slip over at the block. The Taylor plugs doesn’t need or use them. I didn’;t install this myself, but my mechanic said it was pretty straight forward and there is little slack. So far, nothing has vibrated off or melted! Packing by the seller was first rate, and took about a week to arrive.
