Product Description
Whether playing on the rocks or in the woods, your differential is a very exposed and vulnerable component. These differential guards are constructed with a 7/8" solid steel rod that is formed to protect the differential. This 7/8" solid ring is supported by 5/8" solid steel rod that is all attached to a 1/4" steel plate. The guard's design is not only rock solid, but it was also designed to fit as tight as possible to the differential to maximize the approach angle as well as ground clearance. Button head fasteners are used eliminate the chance of getting hung up on a bolt head. In addition to the style of fasteners used, the heads of the bolts are also powder coated to match the differential guard.Zone Offroad DANA 44 DIFFERENTIAL Review
I've going with 4 stars here because after a day of smashing rocks the guard was very loose - to the point I was leaking differential fluid. I thought I'd torqued the bolts pretty tight but even if they were a little loose, it's still surprising it became "rattle loose". I haven't taken it back out since the second torquing so don't hold this against the guard too strongly. Some positives are:
It is really well made
It doesn't come up too high, which leaves plenty of clearnace for steering components
It doesn't take away from ground clearance at all
It took a pretty good beating. Lots of deep gouges
